DANTE ALIGHIERI SOCIETY RECITATION POETRY COMPETITION - 2004

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. Entries for the Poetry Competition will be accepted from students in Years 9, 10, 11 & 12 in the sections Italian and Non Italian. Students who speak or hear Italian spoken at home or who have some other regular contact with the Italian language other than tuition received at school should be entered in the Italian section. The Non Italian section is reserved for students who have no knowledge of the language other than the lessons received at school.

2. An entry fee of $7.00 per student will be charged to cover the costs of administration.

3. Closing date for ALL entries is Monday, May 10, 2004. Timetable details will be forwarded to schools as soon as possible after the processing of entries.

4. Any school unable to attend on a particular day should advise the Co-ordinator in writing of the date and the reasons, which prevent their attendance. An effort will be made to adjust the timetable in such cases. However, it be understood that the timetable is very limited in this regard. This information must be sent with the entry forms.

5. Cancellation of student attendance does not entitle students, teachers or schools to a refund unless the Co-ordinator is notified in writing prior to Friday May 28.

6. Registration is not transferable to other students after Friday, May 28.

7. If changes are made to original entry lists, co-ordinators must provide 2 copies of the new amended lists via fax or email in the requested format as soon as possible after the changes have been requested.

8. All entrants must be listed on the sheets provided, in the following order:

(a) Year levels - use a separate sheet for each year level

(b) Sections - Italian or Non-Italian - use separate sheets headed Italian or Non-Italian as provided.

(c) TYPED and in ALPHABETICAL ORDER by surnames Example: Year 11 Non-Italian on one sheet, Year 11 Italian on another sheet Year 10 Non-Italian on another sheet, etc. SCHOOLS ARE REQUESTED TO PROVIDE TWO COPIES OF LISTS (if sent via post or fax).

9. Students must be entered in the correct section. Changes will not be accepted. If entered incorrectly, students concerned will be disqualified. Teachers should ensure that students know which section they have been entered in.

10. Poems must be chosen from those prescribed by the Dante Alighieri Society in the sheets provided. Students must MEMORISE their poem. Anyone reading the poem will not be marked.

11. The judge's decision will be final and no communication will be entered into in regard to judging.

12. After reading Conditions of Entry, Co-ordinators and Principals must each sign the attached Agreement form. Entries will not be accepted without these signatures For enquiries ring 9432 5688 or Fax 9432 5699
